History (ancient religious) monument - Mithraeum in Jajce

Indo-Iranian deity of the sun and light - Mitra, the beliefs of followers, gives people the courage, the countries providing the peace, protect the righteous, kings promised the throne, and the soldiers of victory, patron of the agreements, alliances and friendships.

The cult of the invincible sun god - Mithras was widespread in all provinces of the Roman Empire, including the province of Dalmatia, in whose boundaries were the largest part of today's Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of Mithraism sought to locate their places of worship in caves, but have been building single-cell and small temples - speleje, and if the terrain allowed, ukopavali them into the ground. An example of the temple - spelej carved in the rock, is located in Jajce, and a unique and rare example.

The temple has three altars and a small stone statue Kautopatesa without a head. This is the only example in Bosnia and Herzegovina where the review dadophorae or (torchbearer), the relief can be found, and two free Mithraic sculptures. On the west wall of the temple, the rock is carved in relief - the image of God who kills the bull. Mitra is shown in the Persian costume with fluttering cloak. With one knee next to a bull, it's left hand grabbed the muzzle, while stabbing him right in the heart. Assisted by a dog, snake and scorpion. In the upper part of the sun (without rays shown) and month (excluding sickle). In front of the relief they found three large altar. At the same location was found and silver fibula with curved foot and 16 pennies.

About the time of the Temple of Mithras in Jajce, no direct evidence. Presumably, the coins, types of lamps and fibula that was built in the early 4th century.
