Water mills on the Pliva lake

Watermill on the River Pliva, 5 km from the town of Jajce, dating from the Middle Ages. Twenty-mill, built on travertine barriers between great and small Pliva lakes, provide a major contribution to the historic ambience of the town of Jajce and expression of the carpentry skills of local and traditional building methods.

Due to the natural, historical, architectural, geological and scientific values ​​of cultural landscape, with complex Pliva lake mills on the River Pliva in 2009. declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Watermills are example in industrial architecture. They were milled grain. The service is not paid in money, but it took the so-called ušur or tenth. Mill owners were wealthy individuals or village.
