Fortress in Jajce is placed within the medieval city complex, at an height of 470 m. Some of the architectural funds inside the fortress suggests that in the middle of 15th century the royal palace was built.
During several centuries this fortress was builded, repaired and upgraded. On the southwestern part of the fortress above the primary entrance to the fortress there is a royal portal with the royal coat of arms. This portal is made in a time among king Tvrtko II and King Stjepan Tomasevic, who definitely moved the royal court in Jajce in year 1421.
