It is located inside of the historic part of Jajce, nearby the catacombs. According to historical facts Jelena Brankovic, the daughter of serb ruler Djuradj Brankovic, after her marriage to the Bosnian king Stjepan Tomasevic, on April the 1st 1459, brought the holly relics of st. Luke which were stored in the church oh st. Mary. These relics bought her father from Ottoman sultan.
On november 1461 in this church was crowned last Bosnian king Stjepan Tomasevic by empowerment of holly pope from Vatikan.
In this church were buried members of some important families from medieval Jajce. During the Ottoman rulement, the 1528th, the church was turned into mosque and named after Sultan Suleiman II. The mosque was burned in fire several times. After fire in year 1832 the building was damaged and had no functionality since then.
On the north part of the building is the bell tower of St. Luke. The bell tower, with it's 23.15 m heights, is the only medieval tower in the continental part of the Balkans. This object was already in year 1892 declared as cultural monument of Austrian-Hungarian empire.
